The debate over the disparity in remuneration of Bollywood stars is a long-standing one. Now, actress Kriti Sanon has opened up about the issue directly. At a recent event, she raised the question, “Why shouldn’t men and women be paid the same for the same amount of work?”
At an event, Kriti said, “Keeping in mind the entire industry, I don’t understand why there is such a difference in salaries? Because, in some jobs, it doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman.”
In her words, “The remuneration should be equal in that case. We have been having this discussion for a long time in the case of cine world as well, and believe me; we feel the worst about it more than anyone else.”
According to her, even if a female-centric film is made, the budget is lower than a male-centric film. In the words of the actress, “I think it’s like a circle.”
Finally, the actress said, “Where a female-centric film cannot do better business than a male-centric film, and then it is assumed that this is why the actress’s salary is less and the actor’s is more.”
