Kishoreganj University students have staged a protest demanding six points. They staged a protest in front of the university’s temporary campus on Sunday. All university activities will remain shut down until their demands are met.
The students’ demands are: to move the university to a new location to run its activities independently, not to be under any other institution, to ensure adequate classrooms and modern lab facilities, to launch
a health center or quality medical services, to have an effective proctorial body for 100% safety of students, and to quickly arrange a playground.
Zahidul Abedin Nafsi, a second-batch student of the university’s accounting department, said, “Our temporary campus is completely inadequate for conducting academic activities. There are no classrooms and labs.
Government exams are almost always held here. This is creating session jams. It is not possible to complete graduation on time. We want a permanent solution.”
Latet, on Thursday midnight, students staged a protest in support of their demands and declared a complete shutdown of the university. , Kishoreganj University’s vice-chancellor, teachers, officials and employees formed a human chain demanding the establishment of a permanent campus and a resolution to the crisis.
University Registrar Naila Yasmin said, “Our meeting with the Education Secretary is ongoing to resolve the problem. No classes or exams have been held due to the student shutdown program.”
