World White Cane Safety Day with the theme ‘If you see white cane in hand, come forward and help’ was observed in the district on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), also District Magistrate (DM) of Kishoreganj, Fouzia Khan attended as chief guest, while Deputy Director (DD) in Social Services, Md.Kamruzzaman Khan presided over.
Civil Surgeon (CS) dr.Saiful Islam, AdC(General) Kazi Mohua and Additional SP(Crime& Ops) Al-Amin Hossein were special guests.
It was addressed among others, Senior Journalist, also CAB president Alam Sarowar Tito, Social Services Officer Mitun Chakravorty, Md.Mohasin of Social Services and Disable student Omar Faruq.
DC Fouzia Khan said that, the government is working to ensure the sustainable development of the country by improving the quality of life of all people with disabilities including the visually impaired.
Deputy Director (DD) Md.Kamruzzaman khan said, Social Services is conducting numerous activities including monthly allowance, grant and loan programs for disabled people, setting up of schools, training for parents, home for orphaned disabled children, construction of male and female hostels for working people.
