Kings storm into Fed Cup Football final

Bashundhara Kings stormed into the final of the Federation Cup final after defeating Dhaka Abahani Limited by three goals to nil in the second semi-final at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

Bashundhara Kings will face Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the final on May 22.
Bashundhara led the first half 1-0.

Bashundhara’s Brazilian forward Robson Robinho put his team ahead by a spectacular shot in the 21st minute of the match. Robinho got the ball on his way from a through pass of his teammate left winger Rakib Hossain.

Bashundhara’s foreign recruit Dorielton made it 2-0 by a header using a cross of his teammate Rakib Hossain in the 72nd minute of the match.

Robinho’s free-kick was thwarted by Abahani goalie Sahidul Alam but Bashundhra’s substitute player Mohammad Ibrahim made no mistake to put the ball into the blank net in the injury time of the second half.

Earlier, Rakib Hossain got the ball at the danger zone of Abahani Limited from a cross of Robinho but Rakib failed to put the ball into the goalbar in the 10th minute of the match.

In the 12th minute, Abahani got their first chance. Abahani’s Brazilian Fernandes’ corner was cleared by a Bashundhara defender.

In the 15th minute of the game, Rakib of Bashundhara struck a shot and Abahani custodian Sahidul Islam failed to grip it but Morsalin failed to shot the ball into the goalbar.

Abahani’s Iranian recruit Milad Sheikh Soleimani got the ball in the goalmouth melee from a flag-kick of Jamal Bhuyan but Milad’s header went wide in the 17th minute of the clash
In the 33rd minute Abahani’s foreign recruit Cornelius Stewart’s power-packed shot went over the crosspiece.

After the lemon-break, Dorielton of Bashundhara Kings entered the Abashani D-box but a defender of Abahani cleared the ball from danger.

It may be mentioned that Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are the defending champions and Dhaka Abahani Limited was the reigning runner-up, while Bashundhara Kings failed to take place in the final in the final of the last edition of the Federation Cup Football.
