After taking part in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football in 2018-2019 season, Bashundhara Kings made an extra-ordinary record in the BPL Football. They clinched the BPL trophy for the consecutive five times. Bashundhara confirmed their championship title in this year’s BPL Football after defeating Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 2-1 goals at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Munshiganj on May 11 remaining with three matches. Bashundhara Kings gained 40 points from 15 matches after playing against the popular Black and While out-fit.
The reigning champions Bashundhara Kings celebrated their championship title on Saturday last after playing a 2-2 draw with Police Football Club at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital. Thus, Bashundhara Kings gained 41 points from 16 matches.
Minister for Youth and Sports Nazmul Hassan Papon handed over the championship trophy to Head Coach of Bashundhara Kings Oscar Bruzon and Captain of the champions Bashundhara Kings Robson Robinho.
Before receiving the trophy, Bashundhara’s Nigerian recruit Mfon Udoh put his team ahead in the 44th minute of the play.
After the lemon-break, Police’s forward Mahdi Yusuf Khan equalized the margin in the 50 the minute of the match.
After nine minutes, Police’s Venezuelan recruit Edward Morillo broke the dead-lock.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Dorielton leveled the margin in the 71st minute of the match and helped their side from defeat to celebrate their championship day with a happy note.
It may be mentioned that after starting the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, the lone professional football competition of the country and the most coveted domestic football meet, Dhaka Abahani Limited won the BPL Football title for highest six times. They won the BPL Football trophy for consecutive three times.
On the other hand, Bashundhara Kings clinched the BPL Football title for five successive times.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited gained the BPL title for three times and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra clinched BPL trophy only one time.
