Kings blank Ctg Abahani 2-0 in BPL

Holders Bashundhara Kings made winning start in the second-leg of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football beating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals was held at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.

In the day’s match, forward Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira scored one goal apiece for Kings, which led the first half by 2-0 goals.

Fahim put Kings ahead scoring the first goal in the 20th minute while Miguel doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Kings in the 30th minute of the match.

After the resumption, Kings, however, got several scoring chances to increase the margin further but failed to score any lacks of proper finishing.

The day’s win saw, Bashundhara, standing third position in the league table, raised their tally to 20 points from 10 matches while the port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited remained bottom of the table with three points playing the same number of outings.

In other match Abahani startsed second-leg of BPL with emphatic win against Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club. Midfielder Enamul Islam Gazi scored a brace as Abahani Limited Dhaka, came from behind, thrashed Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club by 6-1 goals in the second-leg of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Saturday.

Apart from Gazi’s two goals in the match, Mohammad Ridoy, Mohammad Ibrahim, Jafar Iqbal and Mirajul Islam supported him with a lone goal each while forward Sayed Hossen Sayem scored a lone goal for Fakirerpool.

The match was locked 1-1 draw at the breather.
Sayem opened an account scoring the first goal for Fakirerpool in the 15th minute while Ridoy restored the parity for Abahani in the 40th minute of the match.

After the breather, Abahani Limited took the lead when Gazi scored the second goal in the 54th minute and he scored his second and third goal for Abahani Limited in the 60tht minute of the match.

Ibrahim further widened Abahani’s margin scoring the fourth goal in the 76th minute while forward Jafar Iqbal made the score line 5-0 in the 86th minute of the match.

Forward Mirajul Islam sealed the victory scoring the sixth goal for Abahani Limited in the 90+1st minute of the match.

Abahani dominated the proceeding, especially in the second half, and notched their deserving victory on the day, while Fakirerpool were off-colored except the day’s lone goal.

With the day’s win, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani improved their tally to 23 points, three points behind the league leaders Mohammedan, from ten matches while Fakirerpool, which stand eighth position in the league table, remained at their previous collection of nie points playing the same number of matches.
