Police recovered the decomposed body of a youth from Eyakubdandi area under Patiya upazila of the district on Sunday night, seven days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Ashraful Alam Apu, 16, son of Mohammad Idris, hailed from Habilasdwip area under Patiya upazila.
Quoting family members, police said Apu went out his house for attending a wedding ceremony on January 19 and since then, he remained missing
Later, the victim’s father filed a general diary with Patiya thana on January 25 as some unidentified miscreants called his mother Parveen Akhter and demanded ransom. Police said the kidnappers called up Apu’s mother last night and asked them to recover Apu’s body, which was kept behind a poultry farm.
