The death toll from the head-on collision between a truck and an easy bike in Jilerdanga area of Dumuriaupazila of Khulna district, has risen to four, Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masud Ranaconfirmed.
The accident occurred around 9:00 am on Monday (August 25). Three others injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital, reports agencies.
The dead have been identified as Hafiz Sardar, 53, Runa Khatun, 25, Rina Khatun, 23, and easy bike driver Mujahidul, 20.
Highway Police and Fire Service said the Chuknagar-bound pickup van lost control and rammed into the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction in Jilerdanga area around 8:45am.
The accident left Rina and Rustom dead on the spot and six others injured, according to them.
Of them, driver Zahidul succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital. MdMasud Rana, officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station, said legal measures were underway in this regard.
