Khulna journo community outraged by terrorist attack

The attack, vandalism, arson and looting by terrorists at the Arangghata Press Club, located next to the Shalua Switchgate under Arangghata police station in Khulna city, on Tuesday has sparked intense anger among the journalist community.
Press Club General Secretary Emdadul Islam said, “Shalua area terrorists Sujon Sarkar (30), Rasul Fakir (45), Osman Mollah (25), Selim Morol (30), Dipu Sarkar (38) and Sabuj Sheikh (27) and their associates suspected me of carrying out this attack. They thought that I would inform the administration about their misdeeds and publish news against them. Due to that hostility, they systematically vandalized, set fire to and looted the Press Club. They burned all my important documents of 9 years, broke furniture, computers, even windows and doors. He is preparing to file a case with the police station in this incident.
He also said that Sujon Sarkar is a terror name not only among journalists but also in the entire area. He is a notorious terrorist of Shalua and the main accused in the murder of Arif. The administration has also recovered the weapon used in the murder from him. There is a robbery case against him and he works as the regional commander of the East Bengal Communist Party. He is also involved in drug dealing, He is involved in various misdeeds including extortion, land grabbing, and taking money by holding ordinary people hostage. The residents of Shalua are practically hostage to his misdeeds.
Local journalists have expressed deep anger over the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in such heinous activities.
In this regard, Aranghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tuhinuzzaman confirmed the truth of the incident and said, “This is a very sad incident. We are looking into the matter seriously and appropriate legal action will be taken.”
The journalist community hopes that the terrorists will be arrested very soon and brought under the law, and the law enforcement agencies will have to play a strict role to ensure freedom of expression and the safety of the journalist community.
