“Khulna Day-2025” was celebrated on Friday by the Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee. Mr. Firoz Sarkar, (Additional Secretary) Divisional Commissioner, Khulna, inaugurated the 143rd anniversary celebration of Khulna District with the release of balloons, festoons and pigeons. Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mr. Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider and Mr. Md. Rezaul Haque, PPM, Range DIG, Khulna were present as special guests in the ceremony.
Then, on the occasion of “Khulna Day”, a colorful rally was held from Tentultala intersection to Shibbari intersection in Khulna Metropolitan City. After the rally, the Police Commissioner distributed awareness leaflets to build a traffic jam-free city.
Speaking as a special guest on Khulna Day, the Police Commissioner said that lack of employment is one of the problems of Khulna. Khulna will develop truly only if employment is ensured for the marginalized people rather than infrastructural development.
The common people have taken to the roads with rickshaws, vans, easy bikes, Mahindra and CNG in search of livelihood, resulting in traffic jams in the city. Khulna, which was once an industrial city, has today become a city of rickshaws and easy bikes. He called on everyone to come forward from their respective places to improve the fate of the people of Khulna.
Mr. Mohammad Saiful Islam, Deputy Commissioner, Khulna, was also present at the Khulna Day program. Leaders of the Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee, political and cultural figures, and students of various government and private educational institutions in Khulna and the general public.
