BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will go to United Kingdom (UK) on January7 for taking advanced medical treatment.
Sources close to BNP Chairperson said, after several proposed travel dates being postponed, it has now been confirmed that Begum Zia will fly to London on January 7.
A 15-member delegation, including seven doctors, will accompany her on this trip, according to media reports.
The delegation includes Syeda Sharmila Rahman, wife of Khaleda Zia’s late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko; her physician and the party’s Standing Committee Member Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain; Dr Md Enamul Haque Chowdhury; Tabith Awal; and her personal officer ABM Abdus Sattar.
When contacted, Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain told The New Nation on Saturday, “Madam (Khaleda Zia) will fly most probably on January 7. In case of any reason it might be changed for some hours only.”
The BNP chief’s travelling abroad for advanced medical treatment procedures began after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League regime on August 5.
Dr Zahid Hossain said Khaleda Zia would first be taken to London via a long-distance specialized air ambulance. From there, she would be transported to a multidisciplinary medical centre in a third country for further treatment.
