Khaleda hosts Iftar party for pol leaders

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia hosted an Iftar party for political leaders at the Basundhara Convention Centre in the city on Wednesday.
Leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance and some other parties joined the function. Among them, former President and Bikalpa Dhara chief Dr AQM Badrudduza Chowdhury, president of Jatiya
Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Rab, chairman of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Dr Col (retd) Oli Ahmed, acting chairman of Jatiya Party (Zafor) TIM Fazle Rabbi, chairman Bangladesh Jatiya Party Barrister Andalib Rahman Pertha, convener of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna, secretary general of Krishak Sramik Janata League Habibur Rahman Talukder Khoka Birpratik, Jamaat leaders Maulana Abul Hasanat Abdul Halim and Md Selim Uddin, ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Maulana Mohammad Ishak, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Maulana Abdul Latif Nejami, Jagpa chief Shafiul Alam Prodhan, chairman of Bangladesh Kalyan Party Maj Gen (retd) Mohammad Ibrahim Birpratik and president of Bangladesh Islamic Party Advocate Abdul Mobin.  
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, party senior leaders Dr RA Gani, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Tarikul Isalm, MK Anwar, Dr Moyeen Khan, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Brig Gen (retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Abdullah-al-Noman and Selima Rahman also attended the function, among other BNP leaders.
A special munajat was offered before the Iftar seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and welfare of its people.
Earlier on Monday, the former premier hosted the Iftar for orphans and ulema-mashayekhs at the Ladies Club in the city. She will also host Iftar parties for different other quarters. Her next Iftar party will be hosted for eminent citizens and professionals at the Basundhara Convention Centre today (Thursday), while for diplomats on July 5 at Hotel Westin and for the editors and senior journalists on July 6 at the same venue.
