Education Adviser to the interim government, Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abra has said that while teachers have the right to personal political beliefs, such views must remain outside academic spaces.

Speaking at Noakhali Science and Technology University on Monday, he emphasized that political neutrality within universities is essential for maintaining academic integrity..
“We have assumed responsibility for a very short period,” he said. “That is why we must carefully prioritize what to address first.”

In a strong message to academia, Prof Abrar also stressed the importance of maintaining political neutrality in educational institutions. “Teachers may hold personal political beliefs, but those beliefs must remain personal,” he said, adding that political activism must take place outside the university. “Politics needs good leadership—and you will find respect there too—but not within the academic space,” he added, calling for a clear separation between education and partisan politics.
