Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the most important thing for BNP is the people. “We must stand by the people, and we must keep the people by our side. This must be ensured at any cost.”
He said, “In today’s council, the candidates are important, but the people of Bangladesh are our main strength. At any cost, we will remain united in the party’s decisions. No one will be allowed to use the party for personal interest.”
He made these remarks while virtually joining as the chief guest at the triennial conference of Kishoreganj district BNP held at the old stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Tarique Rahman said, “BNP is a big family. The policymakers are the guardians of this family. When they make a decision, everyone must accept it and implement it in unity.”
He urged everyone to remain alert so that no one can use the party’s name for personal gain or create negative perceptions among the people.
Expressing optimism, he said that if leaders and activists can remain united like steel until next February, then a successful people’s verdict can be ensured.
The conference, held after nine long years, was inaugurated by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. From early morning, leaders and activists from different upazilas of the district gathered at the stadium in processions. The conference began in a festive atmosphere with the presence of thousands of activists.
The conference was presided over by district BNP President Md. Shariful Alam. It was conducted by General Secretary Md. Majharul Islam. Special guest was Chairperson’s Advisor, freedom fighter Abdus Salam, and the keynote speech was delivered by the party’s Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.
