Ahead of the semifinal against the Netherlands today, Three Lions captain Harry Kane seems short on goals, with only two in the previous five games.

Despite this, there is no reason for greater concern from the 30-year-old’s perspective. “We have reached the last four. We must be doing a fairly good job then,” he said.

The striker has never been short on optimism, even during difficult times when scoring wasn’t easy. “You always get stuck in times when things don’t work as you want,” he said. “Patience is the answer to every attacker’s goal drought.”

With 36 league goals and ten assists in Germany’s top flight, expectations were high for Kane’s Euro campaign. However, with only two goals in five Euro games, the England star has faced criticism at home. He remains calm, though.

England coach Gareth Southgate praises Kane’s soft skills as one of his key strengths. “He might not be in the best form currently, but his value to the team is immense,” Southgate said.

Despite being substituted twice against Slovakia and Switzerland in the knockout stage, Kane’s position in England’s starting 11 seems secure. His transfer to Bayern and the German league last summer may have been a burden.
