Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary organization, has come forward to provide humanitarian assistance to the flood-affected people with a large amount of relief goods and healthcare equipments.
A team of about 10 members handed over all these relief items to the leaders of anti-discrimination student movement at the temporary relief collection center at TSC in the capital on Saturday.
KAMPS president, renowned kidney specialist also head of the department of Nephrology. Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Professor Dr MA Samad led the team.
The relief items include orsaline about 8,000 pieces, soap 2000 pieces, hand sanitizer 2000 pieces, mosquito nets 200 pieces.
Besides, about lakhs of health awareness leaflets were also handed out where the people of the area will be aware of the health risks during the flood and post-flood period and will be aware of the ways to prevent all the diseases and risks caused by the flood.
On this occasion, KAMPS president Prof. Dr. MA Samad held a courtesy meeting with the present student representatives and the administrative officials of Dhaka University, discussed and exchanged views on the current situation of floods.
“Many people have already been affected by various infectious diseases including diarrhea due to lack of proper food, pure drinking water, baby food, medicine and shelter, these diseases can become deadly if not prevented through raising awareness in the initial stage.
In particular, there may be a risk of sudden kidney failure”, said Prof. Samad while addressing.
KAMPS Executive Director Rezwan Salehin and senior officials participated in the relief handing over ceremony.
