The budget was presented during the 107th special session of the Board of Regents-the highest policy-making body of the university-held at 5 PM on Tuesday in the conference room of the administrative building. University Treasurer, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, formally presented the budget during the meeting.
Following the presentation, the board members discussed allocations for various sectors and gave their opinions and recommendations. The proposed budget was then unanimously approved. Additionally, a revised budget of Tk 89.66 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year, based on government grants, was also approved at the meeting.
Many members of the Board of Regents attended both virtually and in person.
In his budget speech, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun said that the proposed budget had been prepared within the income and expenditure limits set by the UGC. He highlighted that Tk 4.6 crore has been allocated for research grants to encourage research among teachers and students. He called on the government to further increase funding to maintain momentum in research and academic development.
He noted that the university’s first budget in the 2008-09 fiscal year was just Tk 1.23 crore. Since then, as the institution has expanded, the budget has grown 80.11 times, reaching Tk 985.3 crore in 2025-26.
