Junior UK minister postpones BD visit suddenly

After the Australian cricket team, the visit of British Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire to Bangladesh has been postponed all of a sudden. Hugo Swire was scheduled to be here on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh from Saturday. “Irrespective of the latest travel advice changes, plans were in hand for the visit of a UK Government Minister later this week. Unfortunately unforeseen circumstances in London meant that the visit had to be postponed,” the Spokesperson at the British High Commission here told UNB on Thursday. She said they hope the visit will take place soon. However, German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dr Gerd Müller is likely to be here on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh on October 6-7. –UNB
