Many participants of the July Movement have alleged that they are being denied medical treatment at various hospitals since last Eid-ul-Azha, despite possessing government-issued health cards. They described this experience as deeply humiliating.

A thirteen-member delegation of the July Warriors raised these grievances at a meeting with the National Consensus Commission (NCC) held at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday.

During the meeting, the warriors of the 2024 July-August mass uprising also emphasized the need for legal safeguards for the families of July Warriors.

According to an NCC release, Vice-Chair Prof. Ali Riaz, members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider attended the meeting.

“The July Warriors informed the Commission that, since the last Eid-ul-Azha, many of them-despite holding health cards-have been deprived of essential healthcare services at multiple hospitals. They termed the situation distressing and inhumane,” the statement said.

They urged the Commission to recommend that the Health Adviser issue written instructions to all hospitals across the country to ensure uninterrupted medical treatment for the injured July Warriors.

The delegation also called for the introduction of a distinct identity card for each July Warrior to prevent future discrimination.

In addition, the July Warriors raised concern over the October 17 incident that occurred before the signing ceremony of the July National Charter 2025, describing it as “completely unexpected.”

They clarified that their assembly at the South Plaza of the National Parliament was peaceful and intended solely to express legitimate demands-not to create unrest. However, they alleged that a group of outsiders infiltrated the gathering and engaged in clashes and vandalism, identifying 20-25 such individuals.

The delegation sought the Commission’s assistance in withdrawing the four cases filed over the October 17 incident and urged the authorities concerned to express regret and offer formal apologies.

In response, the NCC assured the representatives that their concerns and demands would be given due consideration and conveyed to the relevant authorities for prompt action.

The thirteen representatives of the July Warriors included Md. Sohag Mahmud, Kamrul Hasan, Md. Al-Amin, Mustain Billah Habibi, Hasibul Hasan Jisan, Marufa Maya, Ahadul Islam, Majedul Haque Shanto, Md. Sagor Uddin, Md. Dulal Khan, Md. Nahiduzzaman, Imran Khan, and Nusrat Jahan.
