July victims, family to get school admission quota

NN Online:

The government has announced a new initiative to reserve seats in government secondary schools for the families of those injured or martyred during the July uprising, in addition to the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has issued an official order on Sunday, implementing a new reservation policy for government secondary schools.

According to the directive, 5 per cent of seats will now be reserved for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters, as well as for the families of those who were injured or martyred during the July 2024 mass uprising. School and college principals have been instructed to follow these guidelines for the upcoming admissions.

To be eligible, applicants must submit attested copies of relevant documents or official gazettes along with their application and present the original documents during admission.

The verification process must be carried out using freedom fighter certificates issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs or official gazettes listing the martyrs of the July uprising.

If no eligible candidates from these categories are available, the reserved seats must be filled from the merit list—under no circumstances should any seat remain vacant.
