July Revolution visual corridor ‘Way of Remembrance’ inagurated in Sylhet

Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi said, the way our youth took to the streets without fear in the July Revolution is rare in history. Through their indomitable courage and sacrifice, we have got a new Bangladesh. In July 2024, we proved that if we are united, we can break the wall of fear and achieve freedom.

He said, the spirit of the July Revolution is the spirit of building a Bangladesh based on justice and non-discrimination. We have to move forward by embracing this spirit. We have to work relentlessly towards establishing the desired Bangladesh for which our youth have revolutionized.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a programme organized in front of Jalalabad Park in the city before inspecting the ‘July Revolution Visual Corridor Memorial way’ built in the city by the District Administration, City Corporation and District Council Sylhet at 4:30 pm on Sunday (August 3) to commemorate the July Uprising.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) of Sylhet and Administrator of Sylhet District Council Debjit Singh presided over and Chief Executive Officer of Sylhet District Council Sandwip Kumar Singh conducted the programme.

Sylhet City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Rezai Rafin Sarkar, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Sher Mahbub Murad, Sylhet Police Superintendent Mahbubur Rahman, Executive Officer Anupama Das, Deputy Director of the Youth Development Department Md. Abdur Rouf Shah, District Education Officer Abu Sayeed Md. Abdul Wadud spoke as special guests. Ayesha Siddika Priya and Fakhrul Hasan spoke among the student representatives.

Later, the guests visited the Nagri Chattar, the front of the Circuit House and the Revolution Visual Corridor Memorial Path on the Queen Bridge from the Sylhet City Corporation’s meeting square.

Then at 5 pm, the photo exhibition titled ‘The Story of Public Awakening: July Revolution through the Cameras of the Youth’ was inaugurated by Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi and the guests in front of the city’s Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Rikabibazar.

It is worth noting that the ‘July Revolution Visual Corridor Memorial Path’ exhibition from the Nagri Chattar, the front of the Circuit House and the Queen Bridge from the Sylhet City Corporation’s meeting square, which started on July 30, and the photo exhibition titled ‘The Story of Public Awakening: July Revolution through the Cameras of the Youth’ inaugurated yesterday in front of the Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Rikabibazar will continue until August 5.
