As part of stakeholder engagement, the Judiciary Reform Commission organized a consultation meeting at Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan, Dhaka on Sunday . The meeting was presided over by Honorable Justice Mr. Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman, Head of the Commission and former Associate Justice, Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
Mr. Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Commission Member, Former Justice, High Court Division, Bangladesh Supreme Court gave a welcome speech at the meeting.
Commission members Mr. Tanim Hussain Shawon, Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court, Kazi Mahfuzul Haque Supan, Faculty of Law, Dhaka University and Commission member Mr. Syed Aminul Islam, former Registrar General and former District and Sessions Judge acted as moderators.
In the meeting, views were exchanged on the issues of simplifying the judicial process, the role of the judiciary in protecting human rights, making the judiciary women and child friendly, implementing alternative dispute resolution and legal aid programs and ensuring access to justice aspirants in the judiciary. The participants proposed specific recommendations for appointing judges and government lawyers. Besides, they emphasized on improved case management, increased use of information technology in court and alternative dispute resolution to solve the backlog of cases. They proposed reforms to make the justice system more accessible to women and children and the physically challenged.

Commission Chief Justice Mr. Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman delivered the closing speech at the meeting.
