NN Online:

Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed on Monday emphasized that no reform in any sector will be sustainable unless the judiciary itself undergoes reform.

He made the remarks while speaking at a scholarship award ceremony for underprivileged and meritorious students at Hakimpur Women’s Degree College in Dinajpur around 12 noon.

“Without reforms in the judiciary, no reform initiative in any other sector will sustain,” said the Chief Justice, adding that the term ‘judicial reform’ has now become synonymous with ‘reform’ itself.

The event was also addressed by Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, Appellate Division Registrar Hasanuzzaman, Chief Justice’s Personal Secretary Shariful Alam Bhuiyan, Dinajpur Senior District and Sessions Judge Alomgir Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, and Superintendent of Police Marufat Hasan, among others.

Later, the Chief Justice awarded scholarships to 10 underprivileged and meritorious students under the Syed Zafar Ahmed and Tabserulnessa Memorial Scholarship Fund, named after his grandparents.
