UNB, Laxmipur :A local activist of Jubo League, the youth front of the ruling Awami League, was shot dead by some miscreants in Gopinathpur area of Sadar upazila on Thursday night.The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 30, an activist of South Hamsadi union unit Jubo League and son of late Jafar Ahmed of South Hamsadi village in the upazila.Witnesses said, a group of miscreants, numbering 4/5, on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw arrived at the village and opened fire at Rabiul while he was sitting at a tea stall at about10:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Mohamamd Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Sation.The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, said police.
