Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) formed a human chain on the university campus on Sunday the felling of trees on the campus without following a master plan. The human chain programme was held The human chain was held in front of the university’s registrar building at 11:30am on Sunday with participation of progressive students and activists of environmental organisations. Students various department, said building construction without the formulation of a master plan cannot be acceptable at all.
The construction of several buildings is underway at JU and hundreds of trees have already been felled.
The teachers and students of the university claim that the trees are being cut as the buildings have been constructed in an unplanned way.
They have been staging a movement over the last five years for a master plan to construct buildings.
