Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have imposed a ban on all kinds of events on the campus after 10:00pm in a bid to maintain discipline and ensure security.
The decision was made by the university’s highest policy-making body, the syndicate, and announced through an emergency press release signed by acting registrar ABM Azizur Rahman on Saturday night.
“Until further instruction, no programme would be allowed on the campus beyond 10:00pm,” said the notice.
“Organisers of any ongoing event after the stipulated time would face action under the university’s existing rules and state laws,” it warned.
It also directed organisers to keep sound levels within tolerable limits during programmes.
The administration sought cooperation from all concerned to implement the directives.
