Joyful march on Int’l Peace Day in Feni

A joyful peace march was held in Feni town on the occasion of International Peace Day.

With the theme “Build a Bangladesh of peace and harmony, not conflict”, the march started in front of the city’s Bhasha Shaheed Salam Community Center on Sunday morning.

The march was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam as the chief guest and inaugurated by releasing balloons under the chairmanship of Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, General Secretary of the Citizen District Committee for Good Governance and Time Editor of Daily Feni.

PFG Coordinator Morshed Hossain organized a colorful event under the direction of Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) and Youth Peace Ambassador Group (YPAG).

The participation of women leaders Nur Tanjila Rahman, Maulana Arfan Uddin, Priest Narayan Chakraborty, Feni Baptist Church President Dilu Sarkar, and Buddhist guru Pritimoy Bhikkhu at the forefront of the march paints a picture of Bangladesh’s harmony.

The march was also attended by former principal of Noakhali Medical College, Professor Dr. Malay Kanti Saha, Deputy Director of Local Government and Municipality Administrator Golam Md. Baten, Additional Superintendent of Police Raihan Mehboob, Jamaat District Ameer Mufti Abdul Hannan, Member Secretary of Feni University’s Board of Trustees and Member of the Citizens’ District Committee for Good Governance, Dr. Tabarak Ullah Chowdhury Bayezid.

District Lawyers Association President Nurul Amin Khan, District Women’s Party President Julekha Akhter Daisy, Jamaat District Publicity Secretary A.N.M. Abdur Rahim, AB Party Divisional Co-Organizing Secretary Shah Alam Badal, District President Ahsan Ullah.

General Secretary Fazlul Haque, Former Presidents of Feni Press Club AKM Abdur Rahim and Muhammad Abu Taher Bhuiyan, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council President Shukdev Nath Tapan.

In his inaugural speech, Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said, “Bangladesh has a history of peace and harmony. Since ancient times, people of the country have been living together, regardless of religion or caste.

We want people of all classes, professions, religions and all levels to work together. Everyone should fulfill the responsibilities and rights of citizens.”

Mohammad Shahadat Hossain said, “Feni was once called a town of terrorism. We are truly working with everyone, regardless of party, opinion, religion or caste, to build a town of peace.”
