A new book titled Arthonoitik Poribhasa (Economic Terminology), authored by journalist Abu Ali, is now available at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. This is the seventh book penned by the seasoned journalist.
The book offers an accessible explanation of terms related to the stock market, banks, insurance, business, commerce, and taxes, presented in a simplified manner for better understanding. Published by JyotiPrakash, the book has garnered attention for its comprehensive approach to economic concepts.
The introduction to the book has been written by notable figures, including Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, former Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Professor Abu Ahmed, Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), BM Yusuf Ali, CEO of Popular Life Insurance Company Limited, and Md. Kazim Uddin, CEO of National Life Insurance.
Arthonoitik Poribhasa is available at two prominent stalls at the book fair: Bindu Prakash’s stall number 266 at Suhrawardy Udyan and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU)’s stall number 962 at the Bangla Academy premises. The book is priced at Tk 220, but fair attendees can avail themselves of a 25% discount.
According to Abu Ali, the book combines essential terminology from diverse sectors such as the stock market, banking, insurance, business, and taxes in one cohesive resource. It is aimed at novice reporters, especially those focusing on economics, and students in business-related fields.
With over fifteen years of experience in reporting, Abu Ali is currently a senior reporter at the daily Amader Shomoy. He also serves as the General Secretary of the Capital Market Journalists Forum (CMJF), an organization for journalists covering the stock market.
Previously, Abu Ali has published several books, including Paris to Hamburg (2024), Thames to Nilnad (2023), Share Bazarer Shojapath (2022), Akash to Jole (2021), and Megh Paharer Alingon (2020). His debut book, Share Bazarer Prathomik Dharona, was published in 2018.
“Based on my professional experience and avid reading of various books, magazines, and journals on business, finance, and economics, I have strived to present a simplified overview of securities market-related issues in clear, plain language for the relevant stakeholders,” Abu Ali said.
With Arthonoitik Poribhasa, the author aims to make economic terminology more accessible to a wide audience, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the workings of Bangladesh’s financial and business sectors.
