Jon Kabir, a trailblazer in Bangladesh’s music scene, was honored with the Bangladesh Achievers Award 2024 in the Best Singer category. The award, presented held at at Dhaka’s Lakeshore Hotel recently.
Jon’s journey in the music scene began in the late 1990s when he co-founded the iconic rock band Black. The band’s groundbreaking albums, Amar Prithibi and Abar, reshaped Bangladesh’s rock music landscape, with Jon’s emotive voice and powerful stage presence resonating with a generation of music lovers.
In 2012, Jon expanded his artistic reach by founding Indalo, a band that showcased his growth as a musician. Their debut album, Kokhon Kibhabe Ekhane Ke Jane, was a huge success and further established Jon’s ability to evolve while staying connected to his musical roots.
Jon’s talents, however, go beyond music. He has also made his mark as a versatile actor, receiving critical acclaim for his performances in television dramas and web series. Additionally, his foray into podcasting in 2020 with I Started a Podcast has allowed him to explore the lives of artists from various disciplines, highlighting his creative depth.
Jon’s recognition at the Bangladesh Achievers Award 2024 reflects the enduring impact of his work. In his acceptance speech, he shared, “Music is not just a profession; it’s a journey of self-discovery and connection.” This accolade not only celebrates his legacy but also serves as an inspiration to both fans and fellow artists.
