The administration has continued its strict operation against battery-powered auto-rickshaws to restore order on the roads of Sylhet city and ensure safe travel.
On the third day of the operation, from Wednesday (September 24) morning, electricity connections were disconnected at illegal charging points in different areas of the city and meters were removed.
On the third day of the operation on Wednesday, 45 vehicles were seized. Among them, 32 battery-powered rickshaws, 2 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, 10 motorcycles and a pickup. On the same day, 12 cases were filed for various violations of laws.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Abdul Quddus Chowdhury said that according to the list provided by the Power Department, connections have been disconnected at 38 charging points in the city.
If there is a connection anywhere else, it will also be disconnected. All necessary steps will be taken to make Sylhet a safe city.
Illegal battery-powered rickshaws have been increasing in Sylhet city for a long time. Apart from traffic congestion, accidents were also happening.
In this situation, on the first day of the campaign to stop these illegal auto-rickshaws, 87 vehicles were seized and 17 cases were filed, and on the second day, Tuesday, 105 vehicles were seized and 32 cases were filed.
