A nationwide joint operation commenced on Tuesday night in a bid to recover illegal firearms, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The operation, which is scheduled to begin at 12:00 am on Wednesday, aims to target and retrieve illegal firearms across the country. The Ministry’s statement emphasised the seriousness of the issue and the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety.
In a related move, the interim government has suspended all firearm licences issued during the tenure of the Awami League government. Gun owners have been instructed to surrender their firearms, ammunition, and the suspended licences to their respective police stations by 3rd September.
