City Desk:
Following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, students held a victory march at Jagannath University (JnU) on Tuesday.
Simultaneously, a dua mahfil was organized at the central Jame Masjid of the university to pray for the souls of the deceased. It was held on Tuesday after Zohr prayers.
In the meantime, the students gathered one by one in the university campus. At 3pm, the victory procession started from Jagannath University Kanthal floor and they circled the campus, Bahadur Shah Park.
Later, student movement coordinators spoke at the university.
Ivan Tahseeb, one of the coordinators of the student movement from Jagannath University, said, “We have won after many sacrifices. We have lost our Abu Sayed, our Mugdho. When Sheikh Hasina resigned, people all over the country brightened up.”
He also mentioned that despite the victory, the minorities are being attacked all over the country.
One group is trying to tarnish the movement and caution is necessary.
Masud Rana, another coordinator from Jagannath University, stated that individuals who have kept Facebook screenshots and issued threats will find no place at Jagannath University.
He accused these individuals of being rapists and murderers who will face justice. Rana also claimed that Hasina’s allies and members of JnU blue panel, who spoke out against them before the fall, would be held accountable.
Around 2pm, the group began their victory procession from the Kathaltala premises, moving through Bahadur Shah Park to Sadarghat.
They then returned to the campus and assembled in front of the Mukto Manch.
Shahriar, a student of the Bangla department, said: ”
Our country has been going through anarchy and oppression for a long time. Alhamdulillah, we are thankful to Almighty Allah that we got rid of everything yesterday.
We will never forget the contribution of all the people who were killed to save us from this oppression. May Allah give them the highest position in Paradise.”
