Dr. Payar Ahmed, Professor of the Department of mathematicsat Jagannath University (JnU) has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Chandpur Science and Technology University (CSTU).
On Thursday an appointment letter issued by ASM Kasem, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Education Ministry regarding the matter.
His tenure will last for four years from the date of joining, during which he will receive the same salary and benefits as his previous position before retirement, along with additional benefits applicable to the role.
Highly academician Prof. Dr. Payar Ahmedwas the Dean of Science Faculty at Jnu, Syndicate Member, Academic Council Member, Ruler and Regulation Member of the University. He has taught in 11 universities in the country and abroad including International Islamic University (Dhaka Campus), Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Yamagata University (Japan).
He is known as an eloquent, articulate, honest and fair teacher in the campus. He has more than 40 research papers in national and international journals and several textbooks written by him at various levels. The Cabinet approved the draft bill Chandpur Science and Technology University (CSTU) Act 2019 on 23 December 2019. The bill to establish Chandpur University of Science and Technology (CSTU) was passed in the parliament on 9 September 2020.
In January 2022, reports surfaced that between December 2019, when the university was approved by the cabinet, and April 2021.
Permanent campus of this university is under construction in Lakkhipur Union of Chandpur Sadar.
