A delegation of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) visited the country’s main seaport.
They expressed interest in investing in the port sector of Bangladesh. On Wednesday, the JETRO delegation paid a courtesy call on Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah, Member (Harbor and Marine) of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA).
The JETRO delegation included Country Representative Kazuiki
Kataok, Representative Tomotaka Minoura. Port Secretary Md. Omar Faruk, Assistant Harbor Master Captain Md. Ataul Hakim Siddiqui were present at the time.
The Member (Harbor and Marine) informed the delegation about the current operational capacity and efficiency of Chattogram Port.
Various development projects, security measures, direct shipping with different countries and reducing the waiting time and average stay time of ships.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the port’s recent success, the launch of direct shipping, and the significant reduction in waiting time and turnaround time.
He also praised the port for implementing future projects, increasing investment, digitalization and human resource development.
During the discussion, a Japanese business delegation expressed interest in visiting Chattogram Port and seeing the investment potential.
Member (Harbor and Marine) assured all possible cooperation in this regard.
