The High Court on Monday granted interim bail for six months to Habibur Rashid Habib, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), in seven cases.
An HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order following separate petitions. With the court order, there is no legal bar to the release of the JCD leader as he has secured bail in all the cases filed against him, said his lawyers.
The seven cases were filed with Paltan and Shahbagh police stations in the capital on charge of vandalising vehicles and obstructing police from
discharging their duties during hartals and blockades enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
Earlier in the last week, Habib got bail in 20 other cases filed with different police stations on May last year.
Detective Branch of police arrested the JCD general secretary from the city’s Shantinagar area on November 17 last.
