Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) held a protest rally in response to the rejection of bail applications for BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman and his co-accused wife Dr. Jubaida Rahman in an ongoing legal case.
The protest rally led by JCD’s central joint secretary Kazi Zia Uddin Baset started in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan and ended at Kakrail intersection on Friday night.
In a brief statement at the end of the protest, Kazi Zia Uddin Baset, Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal, said that the voter-less Hasina government was using the Anti-Corruption Commission to fabricate baseless allegations against popular leader Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Jubaida Rahman in a politically motivated case.
He further stated that even though they are being unjustly targeted, they will not be intimidated as the soldiers of Shaheed Zia are present in every household.
The student activists are demanding that the government stop using the Anti-Corruption Commission to fabricate baseless cases against political opponents and to respect the rule of law.
Among others, JnU JCD Vice President Hossain Ali, Joint Secretary Rashed Bin Hashim, Miya Rasel, Joint Organizing Secretary Solaiman Khan Sagor, Zahid Hasan and student leader Minhajul Alom along with other supporters from different units were present
