Recently, popular Bengali actress Jaya Ahsan has been showing off her traditional sarees one after another – sometimes in a colourful floral look, sometimes in bright yellow. But this time, she surprised her fans with a different emotion; she wore her mother’s wedding saree in a new look.
In the pictures, Jaya is seen in a blue and orange saree with golden embroidery, which exudes a royal atmosphere. Heavy jewellery around the neck, bangles in the hands, and earrings in the ears; all in the perfect Bengali bridal attire. Also, her matching hair tie and soft makeup make Jaya even more unique.
In the caption of the pictures posted on social media on Wednesday morning, Jaya revealed some of the stories behind this outfit and saree.
Jaya wrote, “The two sarees seen in these pictures are 45 years old; in fact, these are my mother’s wedding sarees. One for the wedding, one for the bride. These two sarees are proof of various thoughts, discussions, and love. Over time, illusions, memories, and countless stories have accumulated in their folds.”
The actress also wrote, “I used to take these two sarees out of my mother’s closet as a child, from the morning to the evening. I would stand in front of the mirror, quietly covering myself, avoiding my mother’s eyes… Then I would think, I too will become a mother one day, I too will have such a saree.”
Jaya added words of love and gratitude for her mother with this post. She wrote, “My mother’s saree is a symbol of her hard work, sacrifice and love. Mother, your wedding saree, your bride’s saree, these two are priceless treasures to me.”
