Entertainment Report :
The shooting of the movie ‘Shapla Shaluk’ starring Shajal-Bubly is underway in various locations including the Garo Hills in the Nalitabari border area of Sherpur, where wild elephants roam. The film crew was attacked by a wild elephant while shooting.
Actor Shajal said that although it was not that bad, they are working with fear.
However, actresses Jaya Ahsan and Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed have objected to the shooting inside the forest. They have called on the Forest Department to stop the shooting.
“A herd of wild elephants is disrupting the shooting of a new movie in the Garo Hills,” Jaya Ahsan wrote on Facebook, sharing a photo of a news story: “This is another nuisance inside the forest.
I’m drawing the attention of the Forest Department. Can we start lights, cameras, action whenever we want? Is it okay to allow the sound of microphones, the noise of the shooting team, and the music in such a sensitive place?”
Many netizens are agreeing with Jaya’s post. Someone wrote, “Let this shooting team send a legal notice.”
When this correspondent tried to contact Rasheda Akter Lajuk, director of the movie ‘Shapla Shaluk’, to talk about this issue, her mobile phone was found to be switched off. This is not the first time that Jaya Ahsan has been vocal about wildlife conservation.
Jaya filed a writ petition in the High Court last year to stop the use of elephants in various entertainment activities, such as elephants are used in circuses under human control, for travel on elephant backs, for decoration at weddings, advertisements at rallies of political and commercial organisations.
Following Jaya’s writ petition, the High Court suspended the process of issuing licenses for these activities to private owners.
Another actress, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, objected to the same issue. She drew the attention of the Forest Department by posting a picture of the same news shared by Jaya Ahsan on Facebook.
Nawshaba is an ambassador of the Deep Ecology and Snake Conservation Foundation, working for the Animal Conservation Organisation to promote animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and environmental awareness.
Shajal and Bubly are paired together for the first time in the action-romantic genre film ‘Shapla Shaluk’. The film also stars Sumon Anwar, Ayman Shimla, Dilruba Doyel, Rafiqul Rubel, Bappi and others.
The movie is likely to be released this year.
