The district office of the Jatiya Party (JaPa) in Lalmonirhat was completely gutted after unidentified assailants set it on fire late Saturday night.
Police and eyewitnesses reported that around 15 to 20 individuals arrived on eight to ten motorcycles at approximately 11 PM. The group broke the locks of the office, situated at Alorupa Mor in the district headquarters, before looting valuables and setting the premises ablaze.
Alarmed by the spreading flames, local residents rushed to the scene and worked quickly to prevent the fire from reaching nearby shops.
Alamgir Hossain, General Secretary of JaPa’s Lalmonirhat municipal unit, said party members were notified, but by the time they arrived, the office was already engulfed in flames.
Although the perpetrators remain unidentified, the incident has been reported to senior party officials. The attack has sparked heightened tension in the area.
Nur Nabi, officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, confirmed that police responded swiftly and have launched an investigation to track down those responsible.
