Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Wama Kiminori yesterday called on Vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University (RU) Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar at the latter’s office here. During the meeting, they exchanged views related to bilateral and mutual interests of the both countries. They also talked about cooperation of Japanese institutions to RU’s different academic fields, particularly higher education and research.
RU VC Prof Golam Sabbir put emphasis on establishing links between Japanese universities and other higher research institutions and RU coupled with exchanging teachers, students and researchers and joint research, conference and workshops.
He also stressed the need to create scopes of higher education and research through more Japanese scholarship and financial support to RU students and teachers. Both sides also focused on establishing an information and communication technology incubation centre, biotechnology research centre, natural disaster management centre and Japanese Studies Centre at RU.
