JaPa to contest in all 300 seats

The Jatiya Party, led by GM Quader, has announced it will field candidates in all 300 constituencies for the parliamentary polls, despite concerns over “voting fairness”, Secretary General Shameem Haider Patwary has said.
On Wednesday, Shameem highlighted the “deteriorating law-and-order situation” and alleged threats from government supporters, warning that no free and fair election could take place under such conditions, reports bdnews24.com.
“The government could conduct night voting, daytime voting, post-election voting, media-cued voting, or media-controlled voting,” he said.
Shameem described the ongoing period as a “turning point” for the country, with political tension rising and no effective intervention from the Election Commission or other stakeholders.
He cited former information advisor Mahfuj Alam, who predicted “engineered” outcomes, adding that past elections saw ruling parties manipulate administrative and local structures to “influence results”.
He stressed that the Jatiya Party would still submit nomination papers, urging law enforcement, the military, and administration to ensure a credible election environment.
Warning of potential civil unrest if the vote is not free and fair, Shameem said: “Without consensus, the nation’s independence and sovereignty could face threats, leading to a possible civil war.”
Recalling attacks on party offices and activists, he expressed doubts over impartial policing. Shameem emphasised that the party would monitor the situation closely before taking future decisions.
