Jamaat to field candidates in all 300 seats

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has completed preparations to contest the upcoming national elections in all 300 parliamentary constituencies, the party’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Parwar announced on Friday.

Speaking as the chief guest at a reunion of Khulna City Unit Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), held at the Al Faruq Society auditorium, Parwar said Jamaat was ready to enter the polls with full strength.

“Every worker of Jamaat must now enter the election field with full vigor. The time is most appropriate to take Deen (Islam) to the people across all parliamentary constituencies,” he declared.

The gathering was held under the slogan “Drawn by Harmony, Back to the Roots (1977–2025),” and drew current and former ICS activists from across the region. Former student leaders were urged by Parwar to once again play an active role in shaping the country’s political future through their organizational experience and grassroots connections.

The reunion was marked by emotional recollections. Parwar invoked the memory of former leaders Aminul Islam Biman, Sheikh Abdul Halim, Amanullah Aman, Rahmat Ali, Abul Kashem Pathan and journalist Sheikh Belal Uddin, describing their contributions as “a shining chapter in the party’s history.” His words created a deeply nostalgic and charged atmosphere inside the auditorium, where many of the party’s longtime activists gathered.

The programme was presided over by Khulna City Unit Shibir President Arafat Hossain Milon, with Secretary Rakib Hossain conducting the event. Senior Jamaat leaders in attendance included Khulna Regional Assistant Director Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Metropolitan Ameer Prof. Mahfuzur Rahman, District Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, Metropolitan Nayeb-e-Ameer Prof. Nazibur Rahman, and Metropolitan Secretary Advocate Sheikh Jahangir Hossain Helal. Several former Shibir presidents and secretaries also took part.

Narail District Jamaat Ameer Advocate Ataur Rahman Bachchu, along with leaders of Jamaat and Shibir from nearby districts, addressed the event, emphasizing organizational unity and preparations for the coming electoral contest.

With this declaration, Jamaat signaled its intent to mount a nationwide campaign, setting the stage for its first full-scale electoral participation since the political upheavals of 2024.
