Jamaat-e-Islami’s Amir, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has stated that if his party comes to power, women will be provided with safe opportunities to work in the fields of their choice. He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a workers’ rally organized by the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Federation in Paltan, Dhaka.

Dr. Rahman criticized the current state of labor rights in the country, claiming that many workers are still being denied their rightful dues. “Workers are not receiving minimum wages and are being forced to take on multiple jobs to make ends meet,” he said. He also expressed concern over the lack of prayer facilities for female workers in factories, urging employers to address such basic needs.

Addressing rumors that Jamaat would restrict women from working, Dr. Rahman clarified, “There is no truth to such claims. We are committed to ensuring women’s safety and enabling them to work. Our mission will be complete only when every household in the country experiences happiness, peace, and dignity.”

He further emphasized the importance of Islamic law in building a sustainable and peaceful society. “Respect from employers will inspire workers to contribute more sincerely, boosting productivity. We aim to uphold dignity and fairness for all, beyond party affiliations,” he added.

Other speakers at the event included Labour Welfare Federation President and former MP A N M Shamsul Islam, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Professor Mujibur Rahman, and Jamaat’s Dhaka South City Amir Nurul Islam Bulbul.
