Jamaat-e-Islami organized a rally and demonstration in Tangail on Monday (October 27) to press home its five-point demand, including the issuance of an order to implement the July National Charter and the holding of a referendum in November.
As part of the party’s central program, the Tangail district unit arranged the rally in the afternoon at the Central Shaheed Minar in the town. Later, a procession paraded various streets before ending at the Old Bus Stand.
District Ameer Ahsan Habib Masud, District Nayeb-e-Ameer Khandaker Abdur Razzak, District Secretary Maulana Humayun Kabir, Organizational Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, and Sadar Upazila Ameer Professor Iqbal Hossain Badal, among others, were present at the event.
Speakers at the rally said the implementation of the July National Charter is a legitimate demand of the people. They called for a referendum by November to reflect public opinion and give the charter legal status.
They further stated that Jamaat-e-Islami has always been working to uphold the rights of the people through peaceful movements to protect Bangladesh’s independence, Islam, and democracy, and that the party will continue this course in the future.
