Jamaat Ameer calls for unity to build nation

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday called for unity, saying unity should be the tool for building the nation.

“Let us try to build a united society. No division, unity might be the tool for nation building,” he said, addressing a meeting of his party leaders as chief guest at an auditorium in Chuadanga district, organized by the District Jamaat, said a press release.

“On the basis of consensus, we’ve entrusted the task of building the country to the interim government,” he said, adding, “If they do something good, the countrymen will get the benefit, I will get the benefit, you will get the benefit.”

If they (interim government) make a mistake, he said, “We will help them know and correct them.”
The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said, “Some issues have come to our attention, we have advised (them), (and) received positive results.”

“We should pray for them as human beings so that they don’t do anything beyond the conscience and the expectations of the nation,” he added.

Mentioning that India is an independent country and similarly Bangladesh is also an independent country, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said “Apart from India, we have other neighboring countries. Moreover, there are many other countries in this world.

We say the same to everyone. All the countries of the world, including Bangladesh, want to move forward together and on the basis of mutual dignity and equality.”

With District Ameer Ruhul Amin in the chair, District secretary Adv Assaduzzaman conducted the meeting. Central Executive Council Member and Jashore-Kushtia Region Director Mubarak Hossain and Meherpur District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Tajuddin spoke as special guests.

Mubarak Hossain said, “The fascist government has been ousted through the student-people uprising and now we’ve got the opportunity to work in a free environment. This opportunity should be fully utilized.”
