In a significant reshuffle within the interim government, Brigadier General (retd) Sakhawat Hussain has been replaced by Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as Home Adviser.

The changes, announced on Friday, signal a shift in the government’s approach as it seeks to stabilize the political landscape during this transitional period.

Sakhawat Hussain, who previously held the influential position of Home Adviser, has now been assigned to oversee the Ministry of Jute and Textiles. His reassignment comes amidst broader changes to the advisory council, which saw the distribution of portfolios among four newly appointed advisers.

These new advisers were sworn in earlier today at the Bangabhaban, marking their formal induction into the interim government.

In addition to these new appointments, seven existing advisers have been given additional responsibilities. Among them, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, both prominent figures in the student movement that contributed to the fall of the previous government, have been entrusted with key ministries. Nahid Islam will now head the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while Asif Mahmud takes charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

These adjustments within the advisory council reflect the interim government’s efforts to strengthen its administration and address the challenges it faces as it guides the country through this critical period of transition.
