The Rath Yatra of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev has been held in Ishwardi amidst various arrangements. On Friday (June 27) afternoon, the Rath Yatra was inaugurated by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Subir Kumar Das and Additional Superintendent of Police of Ishwardi Circle Pranab Kumar at the Matri Mandir in Karmakarpara of Ishwardi town.
The Rath Yatra started from the Karmakarpara Matri Temple and after circumambulating it, ended at the house of the late Naresh Chandra Roy on Main Road.
On the occasion of Thajatra, people of all ages started gathering in groups at the Matri Temple since morning. Later, women of Sanatan Dharma sounded the uludhan and devotees pulled the chariot of Jagannath Dev forward by pulling the rope.
Matri Temple Management Committee President Kamal Karmakar, General Secretary Devdulal Roy, Milan Karmakar, Maubari and Thakurbari Temple Committee President Swapan Kumar Kundu, General Secretary Rajesh Saraf, Treasurer Prabir Biswas, Journalist Sourav Debnath Krishna and thousands of devotees were present at the Rath Yatra.
