IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast event launched at DU

An event titled ‘IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast’ has been launched today February 14, 2023 at CARS Cafeteria of Dhaka University (DU) to encourage women in science education as a part of celebration of International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this event as chief guest. Sweden-supported Research Group BAN:04 of DU Chemistry Department organized this event with the support of Uppsala University of Sweden.
Presided over by BAN:04 Group Leader Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shoeb the inaugural function was addressed by former Chairperson of DU Chemistry Department Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar, UGC Prof. Dr. Haseena Khan of DU Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, Prof. Dr. Carla Puglia of Uppsala University of Sweden and First Secretary of Sweden Embassy in Bangladesh Ms. Anna Svantesson.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman paid glowing tributes to the eternal memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Language Martyrs of 1952. He emphasized on empowering and participation of women at all sectors especially in research and innovation to face different global challenges.
He urged the teachers, researchers and students of DU to conduct fundamental research and play a pivotal role for building an inclusive society as well as achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Sweden Embassy would extend all sorts of support to undertake joint collaborative academic and research programs for DU young faculty members and researchers, DU VC hoped.
