Didar A Husain, Chairman of IUB’s Board of Trustees told The New Nation, university’s dedication to becoming a global center of excellence. “IUB’s long-term strategy revolves around academic and research excellence, technological innovation, and societal contribution.
We aim to align with national development plans, preparing graduates to lead Bangladesh toward becoming a developed nation,” he said.
Highlighting inclusivity and innovation, Husain added, “Our curriculum focuses on advanced technologies and sustainable practices. IUB aspires to nurture globally competitive graduates equipped to address socio-economic challenges.”
When asked about career development, Prof. M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor of IUB, shared the university’s comprehensive approach. “Our Career Guidance, Placement, and Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) office connects students with employers, organises job fairs, and offers career counseling. Skill development workshops and internships bridge the gap between academics and professional requirements,” he explained.
Discussing research, Prof. Tamim highlighted, “Research is integral at IUB. We provide students with opportunities to collaborate with faculty, access specialised research centers, and gain hands-on experience through our Research Assistant (RA), Teaching Assistant (TA), and Graduate Assistant (GA) programs.”
Atif M. Safi, Head of the Division of Student Activities, elaborated on the vibrant campus life at IUB. “Our campus is equipped with modern facilities, including state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, a comprehensive library, and recreational amenities like gymnasiums, sports complexes, and cultural spaces,” he said.
Safi added that IUB’s 50+ student clubs foster creativity, teamwork, and leadership. “From the Debate Club to IEEE Student Branch, our clubs cater to diverse interests, ensuring holistic development. Events, orientation programs, and cultural activities nurture a sense of community,” he said.
IUB’s commitment to research and sustainability is evident in its initiatives like the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD). “Our research output is ranked #1 in Bangladesh and in Asia for citation impact,” noted Prof. Tamim.
Moreover, programs like “Coding for All” and language courses in French, Mandarin, and Korean equip students with global competencies.
IUB also ensures student well-being through facilities like Saima Hall, offering secure accommodation for female students, and the Psychological Health and Wellness Clinic, which provides mental health support.
As IUB celebrates its legacy of achievement with over 19,000 alumni and 10,000 current students, it remains committed to its mission of producing industry-ready graduates and driving impactful research.
