The Badminton team of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) clinched the championship trophies of both men’s and women’s doubles categories in the Inter-University Badminton Tournament. The tournament was held from December 22-26 at East West University ground in the capital. The IUB team competed against more than 40 universities, securing final spots in four out of six events. East West University organised the badminton competition with collaboration of Bangladesh Badminton Federation. SMC sponsored the tournament.
Tipu Sultan from the Department of Human Resource Management and Ashfak Bin Ferdous from the Department of English and Modern Languages of IUB won the men’s doubles title with a 2-0 margin against Hazi Misir Ali College in the final.
In the women’s doubles category, Tasnim Noor from the Department of Accounting and Kazi Kayanat Soha from the Department of General Management defeated East West University team in the final with a 2-0 margin.
In the men’s singles, Ashfak finished as the runner-up after a closely contested 2-1 match against Daffodil International University in the final.
In the mixed doubles, Tipu Sultan and Tasnim finished as runners-up after a 2-0 loss to Daffodil International University in the final.
